Alcove Gallery

Located in the Alcove of the First Balcony level lobby in the Southern Jube in Calgary, the Alcove Gallery presents a varied series of exhibitions of work by emerging and world-renowned visual artists from across Alberta.

Trevor Louden's photographic inspiration stems from these concepts found in Rorschach imagery and finds expression in nature. This intrinsically basic medium is ancient, pre-dates human evolution, and speaks a primal language.

Louden also was inspired by the work of Carl Jung, who’s work in Analytical Depth Psychology explored concepts of the individual’s consciousness using ancient and universal mental blueprints (archetypes) to guide their way towards self-actualization.

With a primal but natural subject matter and Rorschach like images, the viewer is to use their perspectives and lenses to create their own meaning, producing an insight. Because the insight is self-generated, it is that much more powerful and effective for the viewer.

Trevor's exhibition will be on display in the Alcove Gallery until June.  To view his work, please arrange an appointment here.
