The heroine—or anti-heroine—of Richard Strauss’s Elektra is a character based in the myths of ancient Greece who is consumed by tumultuous revenge. Set in the palace of the murdered King Agamemnon in the years following the Trojan War, this opera navigates the psychological turmoil of Elektra, obsessed with avenging the death of her father. Strauss’s spine-chilling score will keep you on the edge of your seat as Elektra gets closer and closer to her target: her mother Klytämnestra.
